Officers Training and Orientation

 
 

Once the screening and interview process is completed the applicants must complete job orientation programs, both in the classroom and on the job. This ensures that the security officer selected and assigned to you, will have the required knowledge and ability to do the work specifically tailored to client needs. The orientation program addresses the following:

  • Principles and purpose of security
  • Duties and functions of the individual security officer.
  • Authority of the individual security officer’s legal authority, principles for proper search and seizure of persons, jurisdiction and authority of the security officer while on duty.
  • Specific duties, including sufficient site indoctrination as to responsibilities at the work site, communication and reporting procedures, expected demeanor, courtesy, loss prevention techniques and applicable civil/criminal law.
  • Employee, public and labor relations.
  • Communication procedures relating to routine and emergency matters.
  • Guidelines for identifying safety hazards and fire protection techniques, use of various types of fire extinguishers and basic C.P.R. training.
  • Proper emergency procedures and reporting.
  • Report writing essentials and forms procedures.
  • Basic traffic control and accident prevention
  • Security officer orders, post orders, general requirements and specific orders.
  • External threat procedures, natural or man-made disasters.
  • Basic to advance patrol techniques.
  • General and specific orientation of the perimeter of security. i.e. actual, physical and personnel information to perform assigned duties.

A minimum of 16 hours of instruction covering the above subjects will be provided to all security officers. Additional training is provided based upon the client’s needs and requirements to perform the tasks demanded at the work site. To supplement our training, each security officer is issued a Wright Guard Security Guide covering such topics as appearance, conduct befitting a Wright Guard Security Officer, first aid , safety practices, access control, incident reports, daily security reports and general practices.
